For a beautiful scent that will spread throughout your home, it doesn’t get much easier than this! Love the smell of clean, crisp linen? Simply mix 2 cups of warm water, ½ cup of your favourite fabric softener and 1 teaspoon of baking soda into a spray bottle. Shake well and spray away on all if your fabric furniture and soft furnishings. The solution should last in the bottle for up to a month!
Carpets are notorious for attracting odours and few of us have the time to professionally clean and deodorise them regularly. For a quick fix, try Mixing 2 cups of borax (can be found at any Bunnings Warehouse), ½ cup of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon. Sprinkle well over carpets and leave for 20 minutes, then vacuum up. This mix will eliminate any odours, leaving your carpet feeling and smelling brand new. If moths are of concern in your home, you can replace the cinnamon with ground cloves- they smell great and act as a natural moth deterrent.
We’ve all had that moment- you open the fridge door only to be slapped in the face with a foul smelling odour- and often, having no idea what’s causing it! To avoid this before it happens, take 2 large lemons and slice in half. Remove the inside and fill with coarse salt and place in the back of your refrigerator. The mixture will act as a natural absorber!
Dab a cotton ball in your favourite essential oil (we love chamomile, lavender and rose for their calming properties) and place inside your pillowcase. Your pillows will smell delightful and the scent will spread across your bedroom- you may even find you have a better night’s sleep!
Do you have a candle that doesn’t seem to generate any smell when lit? As the wax melts, place a few drops of vanilla or coconut oil into the centre. Best of all, you can change up the smell as you wish- just add a different oil each time!
